Building a Resilient Landscape with Native Plants

September 28 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Cindy Heath of the UVM Extension Service Master Gardener Program will present an informative talk on gardening with native plants and more.

In the workshop, participants will explore various topics, including cultivating habitats for wildlife and pollinators using native plants, garden design principles, and sustainable maintenance strategies. Gardeners interested in sustainable landscaping will learn the essential ecological benefits of planting a native plant landscape. We will explore selections for trees, shrubs, perennials, and ground covers that support biodiversity and our native ecoregion’s plants, insects, and animals. Resources for further study and sourcing native plants will also be covered.

A Sustainable and Resilient New England Library Grant Initiative supports this workshop. The competitive grant, made possible through the generosity of the Manton Foundation, is facilitated by the Association for Rural & Small Libraries. ARSL builds strong communities through professional development and elevating the impact of rural and small libraries. ARSL recognizes the uniqueness of small and rural libraries and is committed to providing an environment that encourages excellence within this community of practice, supporting their service goals and speaking on behalf of this vital constituency.
