Join the Great Vermont Dragon Egg Hunt!

Why hatch chickens when you can raise dragons?

This fall, Whiting Library is excited to take part in the Great Vermont Dragon Egg Hunt! Everyone is invited to join in this fun, outdoor library game. A magic dragon has built a nest on the disc golf course in Chester and laid her eggs in it. Now she challenges you to take a hike and try to collect one of her eggs! You will visit unique locations by following picture clues that lead you around the disc golf course starting behind the ice rink parking area at the Pinnacle on Lover’s Lane.

Find the dragon’s nest and bring 1 paper egg back to the library to be entered in a raffle to win a Dragon Puppet and her real egg! Participants must be 16 or younger to win the raffle.

Chester’s Dragon Egg Hunt:

  • is a moderate hike, mostly up hill, in an active disc golf course recreation area;
  • pack a water bottle and snacks to take full advantage of the great spots to rest along the path;
  • takes approximately 1 hour, give or take, depending on how fast or slow you go,
  • participants hike the disc golf course from tee box #1 through basket #6;
  • find the dragon’s nest, open it and collect one (paper) egg per child. Close the nest back up to keep the egg’s warm and dry.
  • return the paper egg to the library to be entered in a raffle to win a dragon puppet and her egg;
  • watch out for disc golf players on the course, perhaps you’ll decide to play the course!
