Ever wanted a book club with no assigned reading? Whiting Library is now hosting a local chapter of Silent Book Club where the reading is BYOB (Bring or Borrow Your Own Book). This is a no pressure, no requirements kind of club meant to unite book lovers of all types.

The general structure of a silent book club is show up, say hi to other bookworms and socialize for a few minutes, then jump into an hour or so of quiet reading time of whatever book (and whatever format) you want to read. Then we’ll cap with ten minutes of optional sharing about what we read before we break till next session.

Both of our weekly session are drop-in, meaning show up when you want, leave when you want. Want to come early or stay longer to chat? Perfect! All meetings will be held at the library in the Suzy Forlie Room, so you can chill on the coach or armchairs, watch birds out the omega window, and warm up in winter with our electric fireplace. Feel free to bring tea for an extra cozy factor!

Our first session of the week is Tuesday from 4pm – 5:30pm

Our second session of the week is Friday from 1pm – 2:30pm

Happy reading and see you there!
