A New StoryWalk® Is Now Open on the Brookside Trail

We’re excited to announce a new way to enjoy the story I AM THE STORM at Whiting Library—outside on the Brookside Trail Bridge!

Thanks to the generous help of community volunteers, Whiting Library has posted a StoryWalk® along the Brookside Trail, giving families, walkers, and book lovers another opportunity to connect with literacy while enjoying the outdoors.

As you make your way along the trail, you’ll discover pages from a children’s book displayed along the route. Read a page, keep walking, and discover what happens next! It’s a simple way to combine reading, movement, nature, and a little adventure.

StoryWalks encourage people to experience books in a whole new way. Walking, talking about the story, noticing the world around them, and stopping to read together all create opportunities for families to build literacy skills while having fun outside.

And this StoryWalk wouldn’t be possible without the people who volunteered their time to help make it happen. Thank you to our community volunteers for helping us bring literacy outside the walls of the library!

So grab the family and friends, lace up your walking shoes, and come take a story for a walk.
