Join the Good Citizen Challenge (link), a free summer civics project for Vermont kids in grades K-8.

The Challenge encourages young people to learn about civic responsibility. It consists of activities that help kids engage with their communities and government, learn about news literacy and find ways to help others. As students submit their activities, they can win weekly prizes and are entered to win the grand prize of a free trip for two to Washington, D.C.!

The Challenge fosters curiosity and a sense of ownership — important qualities of citizens and future voters! Check out our 2026 Hall of Fame, which shows some of the most interesting submissions we’ve received so far [link].

Here is a link to this year’s activities [link]. Students can enter individually or as part of a team. Find the team guidelines here [link].

Help spread the word to students and families! Learn more or enter the challenge at goodcitizenvt.com.
